Merry Solstice, Self-Destructive Humans...

Romney has declared he has a right to declare war WITHOUT Congress... (Romney, Candidate for King, Denies He Would Need Congress’s Approval for War - won't those protests at Mormon Temples be a hoot!)

But what does it matter. Long after we've killed ourselves off through radioactive chromosomal damage, the solstices and the equinoxes will go on, laughing at our self-destructive ways. Fun videos below.

Fall of Empires: American and Chinese Boondoggles

While watching the Transit of Venus on NASA channel and Wired.com - cleaning out my "blog it" file I found a couple things I decided to blog. The first about the U.S. empire on the verge of collapse; the second shows one reason Chinese may be just a few years behind:

* How America will collapse (by 2025): Four scenarios that could spell the end of the United States as we know it -- in the very near future...
If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the end of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over except for the shouting. Despite the aura of omnipotence most empires project, a look at their history should remind us that they are fragile organisms. So delicate is their ecology of power that, when things start to go truly bad, empires regularly unravel with unholy speed: just a year for Portugal, two years for the Soviet Union, eight years for France, 11 years for the Ottomans, 17 years for Great Britain, and, in all likelihood, 22 years for the United States, counting from the crucial year 2003.

So in just a dozen years we may end up The (Loosely) Confederated Communities of America...

* The ghost towns of China: Amazing satellite images show cities meant to be home to millions lying deserted :
These amazing satellite images show sprawling cities built in remote parts of China that have been left completely abandoned, sometimes years after their construction. Elaborate public buildings and open spaces are completely unused, with the exception of a few government vehicles near communist authority offices. Some estimates put the number of empty homes at as many as 64 million, with up to 20 new cities being built every year in the country's vast swathes of free land.

Just another nuke war video...

Was thinking of putting something positive and consciousness raising on the blog today; so much negative news I don't feel like reporting. So why not sum all that negative news up into where it's all heading. Those big exploding phalluses in the sky...

OK, here's something a little more positive... Just some imperfect human beings trying to stumble towards the light...
